Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Wesley Hunt voted in favor of H.R.5 - Amends the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and the General Education Provisions Act (GEPA) to require public schools to allow parents to review certain materials and to be informed of, and grant consent for, certain activities. In addition, the bill would establish requirements on local education agencies (LEAs) as a condition of receiving federal funds.
"Parents have a right to be involved in the education of their children. Parents have a right to know what's being taught in schools, they have a right to access the reading materials, they have a right to know their children are safe, and they have a right to be heard. I'm honored to support this bill," said Hunt.
