Washington, D.C. - Congressman Wesley Hunt, along with Congressmen Pfluger, Weber, and Crenshaw, sent a letter to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) urging them to expeditiously approve Rio Grande LNG's permits for trains 1-5.

Despite facing numerous permitting challenges and regulatory setbacks, the Rio Grande LNG Project holds immense promise—bringing with it thousands of jobs and billions in economic investment for Texas.

In March, Rep. Hunt introduced the Protect LNG Act of 2025, legislation aimed at reducing legal uncertainty surrounding LNG development. The bill ensures that litigation involving environmental reviews under the Natural Gas Act or the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) will not invalidate permits, licenses, or approvals issued to qualifying energy facilities.

As the Energy Congressman of the World—Rep. Hunt remains committed to strengthening U.S. energy independence and removing bureaucratic barriers that hinder progress in the energy industry.

“LNG is the biggest green initiative on planet earth that also provides huge economic benefits to the United States," said Rep. Hunt. "Despite opposition from climate extremists, I am committed to correcting the harmful impacts of the Biden administration's energy policies. I encourage FERC to support American energy development by reauthorizing the Rio Grande LNG Project, which would create thousands of jobs in Texas, attract billions in investments, and reduce energy costs for hardworking Americans."
