Washington, D.C. – Today, Army combat veteran and Houston native, Wesley Hunt, was sworn in as the first Congressman in the history of Texas’38th Congressional District.

After taking the oath of office, Hunt also became the first black graduate of our nation’s military academies to be elected to Congress. Congressman Hunt previously attended and graduated from West Point Military Academy.

“Representing the 38th Congressional District of Texas, and being sworn in as the first black academy graduate in history to serve in the halls of Congress, is the greatest honor of my life. The people of Texas 38 have entrusted me to fight in Washington for our values and our way of life, and I intend to do just that,”said Hunt.
